Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Calculation of static transmission errors associated with thermo-elastic coupling contacts of spur gears [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The static transmission error is one of the key incentives of gear dynamics and addressed by many scholars. However, the traditional calculation method of static transmission errors of spur gears does not take into account the influence of thermo-elastic

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Nonlinear Dynamic Modeling of Rotor-Bearing Systems with Combined Support Considering Coupled Motion: Numerical and Experimental Studies

open access: yesMathematics
The elastic support structure is widely employed in rotor systems and has an important influence on the nonlinear vibration of such systems. Nevertheless, coupled motion between elastic supports and bearings has not been taken into account, and the ...

Impact of viscoelastic coupling on the synchronization of symmetric and asymmetric self-sustained oscillators

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
We investigate a system of two viscoelastically coupled, modified Van der Pol oscillators to compare their synchronization properties due to elastic and viscoelastic coupling.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Analysis of an energy-based atomistic/continuum approximation of a vacancy in the 2D triangular lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present an a priori error analysis of a practical energy based atomistic/continuum coupling method (A. V. Shapeev, Multiscale Model. Simul., 9(3):905-932, 2011) in two dimensions, for finite-range pair-potential interactions, in the presence of ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...
