Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Linear buckling analysis of unstiffened plates subjected to both patch load and bending moment

open access: yes, 2008
In this study, linear buckling analysis of unstiffened plates under interacting patch loading and bending moment is developed. The study focuses on estimation of the elastic critical load due to patch load, and concomitant linearly variable compressive ...

Effect of Buckling Restrained Braces Locations on Seismic Responses of High-Rise RC Core Wall Buildings

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2016
Conventionally, a flexural plastic hinge is designed and detailed at the core wall base and coupling beams ends to control the seismic responses. This strategy is based on allowing the damage to be concentrated on main structural components.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Design aid for moment strength of built-up crane runway girders

open access: yes, 2014
The evaluation of elastic moment for built-up crane runway girders is not an easy task as the difficulty involves the calculation of torsional properties including warping constant, the coefficient of monosymmetry, and torsion constant. To date, all AISC

Investigation into the Fracture Evolution Law of Overlying Strata Roof in Shallowly Buried “Three-Soft” Coal Seam Fully Mechanized Mining Faces and Its Influence on the Feasibility of Gob-Side Entry Retaining

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To address the feasibility of gob-side entry retaining in the shallow-buried three-soft coal seam fully mechanized mining face (SB-TSCS FMMF) of Xindeng (Zhengzhou, China) Coal Industry, we established a mechanical model of post-mining roof–coal-rock ...

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Lateral buckling of tee beams under moment gradient

open access: yes, 1986
This paper investigates the elastic lateral buckling of simply supported tee beams under moment gradient. Solutions are obtained via the energy approach, assuming a general Fourier sine series for the buckled shapes. It is found that buckling capacity of
