In everyday muscle action or exercises, a stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) is performed under different levels of intensity. Thereby, compared to a pure shortening contraction, the shortening phase in a SSC shows increased force, work, and power.

A statistical damage constitutive rock model based on elastic energy release rate
In order to truly reveal the mechanism of rock deformation and failure and the nature of rock material damage, based on the analysis of rock material deformation law and mechanical characteristics, a rock damage constitutive model based on elastic energy

Elastic model for dinucleosome structure and energy [PDF]
The equilibrium structure of a Dinucleosome is studied using an elastic model that takes into account the force and torque balance conditions. Using the proper boundary conditions, it is found that the conformational energy of the problem does not depend on the length of the linker DNA.

Convergence of equilibria of thin elastic plates under physical growth conditions for the energy density [PDF]
The asymptotic behaviour of the equilibrium configurations of a thin elastic plate is studied, as the thickness of the plate goes to zero. More precisely, it is shown that critical points of the nonlinear elastic functional converge to critical points of

Low-energy elastic electron scattering from helium atoms [PDF]
We reinvestigate a key process in electron-atom collision physics, the elastic scattering of electrons from helium atoms. Specifically, results from a special-purpose relativistic polarized-orbital method, which is designed to treat elastic scattering ...

Estimating the effective bending rigidity of multi-layer graphene
We present a novel analytical prediction for the effective bending rigidity γ _eff of multi–layer graphene sheets. Our approach involves using a variational model to determine the folding conformation of multi–layer graphene sheets where the curvature of

Negative Energy Elasticity in a Rubberlike Gel [PDF]
Rubber elasticity is the archetype of the entropic force emerging from the second law of thermodynamics; numerous experimental and theoretical studies on natural and synthetic rubbers have shown that the elasticity originates mostly from entropy change with deformation.

Exploiting Elastic Energy Storage for Cyclic Manipulation: Modeling, Stability, and Observations for Dribbling [PDF]
For creating robots that are capable of human like performance in terms of speed, energetic properties, and robustness, intrinsic compliance is a promising design element. In this paper we investigate the effects of elastic energy storage and release
