Transmission and scanning electron microscopy of cutis rhomboidalis

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2021
Cutis rhomboidalis nuchae was assessed in a 65-year-old patient. Optical microscopy showed basophilic agglomerations in the reticular dermis with decreased elastic fibers.

Elastic fibers during aging and disease

open access: yes, 2021
Elastic fibers are essential constituents of the extracellular matrix of higher vertebrates and endow several tissues and organs including lungs, skin and blood vessels with elasticity and resilience. During the human lifespan, elastic fibers are exposed

Structure of the Elastic Fiber: An Overview.

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1982
Intense research efforts over the past 18 yr have probed deeply into the structure of the elastic fiber. This began with the elucidation of the demosine crosslinks in elastin and the description of the elastin precursor, tropoelastin, derived from copper-deficient animals.

Multiphoton autofluorescence imaging of intratissue elastic fibers

open access: yes, 2022
S.495-500Multiphoton induced blue/green autofluorescence by near infrared femtosecond laser pulses has been used to selectively image intratissue elastic fibers in native and tissue engineered (TE) viable heart valves without any invasive tissue removal,

Mechanical anisotropy of PAN-based and pitch-based carbon fibers

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2020
With the expansion of use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs), it becomes important to obtain precise knowledge of elastic properties carbon fibers in radial direction as well as axial direction.

THE FINE STRUCTURE OF ELASTIC FIBERS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1966
The fine structure of developing elastic fibers in bovine ligamentum nuchae and rat flexor digital tendon was examined. Elastic fibers were found to contain two distinct morphologic components in sections stained with uranyl acetate and lead. These components are 100 A fibrils and a central, almost amorphous nonstaining area.

Electron dense staining affinities of mouse oxytalan and elastic fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
. The staining affinity of electron dense stains to mouse palatal elastic fibers and periodontal oxytalan fibers was assessed and compared. Tissues were stained routinely with uranyl acetate and lead citrate or with elastic tissue stains including: (1 ...

Ultraviolet radiation reduces desmosine cross-links in elastin

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports, 2017
Elastic fibers, a major component of the extracellular matrix of the skin, are often exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation throughout mammalian life. We report on an in vitro study of the alterations in bovine nuchal ligament elastic fibers resulting ...

Regulation of thermal relaxation behavior and aggregation structure of polyacrylonitrile fiber

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2020
Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers which formed high-elastic deformation during the spinning process, have thermal relaxation behavior in the heat conditions, such as thermal shrinkage with disorientation.
