On the vibration of an elastic plate on an elastic foundation
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1967This paper is a study of the vibration of an elastic plate under a time-harmonic point force. The plate is infinite in extent and rests on an elastic foundation. This study is made on the basis of the improved (Timoshenko) plate theory. The mathematical problem is to seek a fundamental solution of the time-reduced plate equation of the improved plate ...

Elastic-Plastic Slabs on Elastic Foundation
Journal of the Structural Division, 1978A method of analysis and design of rectangular and circular elastoplastic, reinforced concrete, and slabs resting on a Winkler-type foundation is proposed in this paper. The method is an application of the yield-line theory of structures and gives upper bounds of the true limit loads.

Analysis of rectangular plates resting on a Winkler-type, one-parameter foundation is studied. The finite element method is applied and a 12-degree-of-freedom, nonconforming rectangular plate element is adopted. Based on shape functions of the plate element, an energy approach is used to derive a closed-form, 12-by-12, consistent foundation stiffness ...

Elastic and Viscoelastic Foundation Models
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1964The present paper contains a critical study of a number of foundation models as well as a further development of some of the ideas involved. Among others it is shown that the Pasternak foundation is a mechanical model for the so-called “generalized” foundation.
