Edge wrinkling in elastically supported pre-stressed incompressible isotropic plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The equations governing the appearance of flexural static perturbations at the edge of a semi-infinite thin elastic isotropic plate, subjected to a state of homogeneous bi-axial pre-stress, are derived and solved.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Elastic–Plastic Transition in Iron: Structural and Thermodynamic Features [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The structural and thermodynamic features of the elastic–plastic transition in armco iron and its plastic deformation are studied. Energy storage in iron is shown to have a nonlinear character and be accompanied by wavelike heat dissipation.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

VIBRATION OF BEAMS, LYING ON THE SOLID NONLOCAL ELASTIC FOUNDATION

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings, 2016
Now, the calculation of beams, lying on the solid elastic foundation is fulfilled with us- ing different model of elastic foundation. One of the most common is a model, based on the hypothesis of a proportion betweenthe reaction of the foundation at the ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Elektryczne modelowanie sprężystego podłoża

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 1969
The author presents three models of an elastic foundation and the corresponding electric systems. The adjustment of the foundation is represented by the current, the deflection by the voltage and the elastic constants by electric resistances.

Effect of Ground Motion Characteristics on the Seismic Response of Torsionally Coupled Elastic Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
This study presents a systematic investigation of the effects of ground motion characteristics, especially its multi-directional character, on the response of torsionally coupled elastic structural systems. The ground motion model is probabilistic and

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Fidelity of computational modelling of offshore jacket platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The development of oil and gas exploitation offshore has a history of about half a century. Many platforms have been built since to facilitate the production of hydrocarbons oil and gas, of which fixed offshore jacket type structures are the most ...
