The buckling analysis of a cold-formed steel C-sectional column resting on an elastic foundation

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The paper is focused on stability analysis of different models of steel cold-formed C-section column. The analysed element may be applied as a primary load-bearing member in steel trusses or silo columns. The column can be used as a support for a wall of

Free vibration analysis of beams on a Pasternak foundation using Legendre polynomials and Rayleigh-Ritz method.

open access: yesTrudy Odesskogo Politehničeskogo Universiteta, 2017
A free vibration of Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beams resting on a two-parameter elastic foundation of Pasternak type has been investigated. Rayleigh-Ritz method is employed to deduce the governing equation and the Legendre polynomials multiplied by a

Improvements of Zeyded method for calculating flutter of flat panels [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Method for calculating flutter boundaries and estimating stresses in infinite spanwise array of panels is presented. Numerical analyses are included for pinned edge panels, isotropic panel material, zero viscous damping, and no elastic foundation. Design

Elastic Deformation of Soft Coatings Due to Lubrication Forces

open access: yes, 2017
Elastic deformation of rigid materials with soft coatings (stratified materials) due to lubrication forces can also alter the interpretation of dynamic surface forces measurements and prevent contact formation between approaching surfaces.

Influence of an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere on Diamond‐Single‐Grain Scratching of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐grain scratching of Ti–6Al–4V is investigated under controlled, oxygen‐free, and ambient atmospheres using a novel experimental setup with in situ high‐speed imaging. The approach enables direct observation of chip formation and adhesion under suppressed oxidation.

Reliability analysis of beam on elastic nonlinear foundation [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2007
This paper is focused on the solution of simple beam continually supported by elastic (Winkler's) foundation. The foundation contains longitudinal nonlinearity.

Interaction of a shear wall with the soil for incident plane SH waves: Elliptical rigid foundation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The closed-form solution of the dynamic interaction of an elastic shear wall and the elastic homogeneous half-space, previously known only for the rigid foundation with circular cross section, has been generalized to apply for the foundation with ...

Elastic settlement of ring foundations

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 2015
AbstractIn this paper, numerical computations using the finite difference method are carried out in order to investigate the settlement of ring foundations resting over an elastic half space. The main goal of the present work is to introduce a closed form solution for calculating elastic settlement of ring foundations.

Assessing Altered Coating Adhesion on Plasma‐Deoxidized Surfaces Under Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the effectiveness of atmospheric pressure plasma pretreatment in modifying silicon and stainless steel surfaces to improve adhesion. Argon‐hydrogen plasma increases surface roughness and improves adhesion strength, whereas pure argon results in smoother surfaces and structural changes.

Flexural vibration and power flow analyses of axially loaded beams with general boundary and non-uniform elastic foundations

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
In this article, flexural vibration and its power flow of an axially loaded beam with arbitrary boundary and non-uniform elastic foundation are analyzed via energy principle in conjunction with Rayleigh–Ritz procedure.
