Quantifying dynamic traffic in Elastic Optical networks

open access: yes2017 19th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2017
This work is focused on the characterization of the traffic allocated in Elastic Optical backbone networks when different dynamic traffic profiles are generated. Extensive simulations are done to statistically model the real-time traffic carried by this kind of networks.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Pressure Raman effects and internal stress in network glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Raman scattering from binary GexSe1-x glasses under hydrostatic pressure shows onset of a steady increase in the frequency of modes of corner-sharing GeSe4 tetrahedral units when the external pressure P exceeds a threshold value Pc.

Soft Failure Localization in Elastic Optical Networks

open access: yes2018 20th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2018
Soft failure localization to early detect service level agreement violations is of paramount importance in elastic optical networks (EONs), while it allows anticipating possible hard failure events. Nowadays, effective and automated solutions for soft failure localization during lightpaths' commissioning testing and operation are still missing. In this

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Proactive Grooming With Delay Optimization in Sliceable Elastic Optical Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Typical energy-efficient dynamic grooming solutions may find a detour and longer path where delay from both the IP layer and optical layer is increased on extra nodes and links. In this paper, analysis of both delay and energy is made on typical grooming

Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation in an Elastic Network

open access: yes, 2017
Living and engineered systems rely on the stable coexistence of two interspersed liquid phases. Yet surface tension drives their complete separation. Here we show that stable droplets of uniform and tuneable size can be produced through arrested phase ...

AxonDeepSeg: automatic axon and myelin segmentation from microscopy data using convolutional neural networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Segmentation of axon and myelin from microscopy images of the nervous system provides useful quantitative information about the tissue microstructure, such as axon density and myelin thickness. This could be used for instance to document cell morphometry

Manufacturing Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Printing Filaments: Development of a Post‐Consolidation Unit

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, temperature‐controlled post‐consolidation unit is developed to test its potential to improve the melt impregnation process used to manufacture continuous fiber‐reinforced filaments for additive manufacturing of high‐performance thermoplastics.
