Full‐Field Damage Monitoring in Architected Lattices Using In situ Electrical Impedance Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ electrical impedance tomography (EIT) turns 3D‐printed, CNT‐infused architected lattices into full‐field damage‐imaging systems. Tunable Voronoi‐based geometries act as active sensing architectures, enabling conductivity maps to detect early‐stage damage and localise sequential ligament fracture before catastrophic failure.

Mechanics of Telson Ridges in Mantis Shrimp for Impact Analysis and Implications for Bioinspired Elastic Shell Designs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The mantis shrimp telson reveals how ridged biological shields control deformation under impact. Inspired by this architecture, telson‐inspired ridged curved shells transform ridge geometry and macroscopic curvature into bidirectional snap‐through, tunable stiffness, and enhanced hysteretic energy dissipation for multifunctional architected materials ...

Construction of the numerical model of the viscoelastic properties in a passive damping device consisting of an embedded mass in viscoelastic material and experimental investigation of the device's multi-modal damping effect

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
This paper describes the construction of the numerical model of a passive damping device called eMDVA (embedded Mass Dynamic Vibration Absorber) and experimental investigation of the eMDVA's multi-modal damping effect for elastic vibrations of a ...

Stabilization of Strongly Reduced Fe(I) Single Atom Species Coordinated in a 2D Self‐Assembled Metal–Organic Network

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A graphene‐supported 2D metal–organic network stabilizes highly reactive Fe(I)‐N4 single sites through Co‐induced charge redistribution. Combined experiments and theory reveal Fe(I) formation, oxygen‐driven oxidation, and O2 activation mechanisms, offering a strategy to access low‐valent iron centers relevant to catalytic and biological processes ...

Vibration of Clamped Visco-Elastic Rectangular Plate with Parabolic Thickness Variations

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2008
Most of the machines and engineering structures experience vibration and their design generally requires consideration for their dynamic behavior. Due to this, the study of vibration, as it deals with the vibratory behavior of bodies, is acquiring ...

3D‐Printed Gradient Shape‐Memory Strain Sensors With Rewritable Gauge Factors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed shape‐memory strain sensor combines thermomechanical programming with gradient architectural design. Preset strain rewrites the gauge factor (GF), while the gradient geometry amplifies the response through strain redistribution. Reprogrammable sensitivity enables the same sensor to detect weak pulse signals and monitor large‐amplitude ...

A two-dimensional model for extensional motion of a pre-stressed incompressible elastic layer near cut-of frequencies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A two-dimensional model for extensional motion of a pre-stressed incompressible elastic layer near its cut-off frequencies is derived. Leading-order solutions for displacement and pressure are obtained in terms of the long wave amplitude by direct ...
