Experimental Study on the Seismic Performance of Confined High Walls of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Panels Used in Subway Stations

open access: yesBuildings
This study addresses the unique challenge of the partition walls in subway stations, featuring high height, fire prevention, and located outside the main frames, by introducing a confined autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) panel wall system.

Advances in Solution‐Processed Textile Triboelectric Nanogenerators: Ink Formation, Processing Strategies, Applications, and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced ink systems for solution‐processed textile triboelectric nanogenerators are systematically summarized, spanning conductive, tribo‐negative, and tribo‐positive layers. By connecting ink chemistry, deposition methods, and device function, the present review reveals the key governing principles of solution development and highlights practical ...

Tunable colloid trajectories in nematic liquid crystals near wavy walls

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Nematic liquid crystals have a rich energy landscape which can define elastic fields to guide colloidal assembly. Here the authors show controllable trapping of colloidal particles by placing them in a system with wavy walls which are exploited to obtain

Embedded Direct Ink Writing of Thermoset and Elastomeric Polymers via Frontal Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Embedded frontal polymerization direct ink writing (FP‐DIW) combines frontal ring‐opening metathesis polymerization with embedded 3D printing to decouple deposition from curing. A yield‐stress support bath stabilizes low‐viscosity inks, while on‐demand thermal initiation enables controlled front propagation. This approach expands the accessible feature

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printed Anthropomorphic Breast Phantom for Emulating Mechanical and Dielectric Properties of Mammary Tissue. Applications in Microwave Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable breast phantom is developed using patient‐derived MRI data and hydrogels that replicate the dielectric properties of healthy and cancerous tissues. Mechanical and dielectric characterization confirm its suitability for microwave imaging.

Elastic analyses of frames with spandrel walls and wing walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of wall length and wall thickness ratios on the elastic deformations and stress distributions of the spandrel and wing walls in reinforced concrete structures.

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Reappraising elastic thickness variation at oceanic trenches [PDF]

open access: yes
We reassess the variation of elastic thickness as a function of lithospheric plate age using a global database of bathymetric and free-air gravity profiles which are perpendicular to oceanic trenches.

Geometric curvature in the out-of-plane flexural design of unreinforced masonry walls

open access: yesDiscover Civil Engineering
The out-of-plane behaviour of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls is commonly assessed using formulations developed for planar elements, despite the widespread use of curved masonry in architectural and historical structures.
