The wall theorem for elastic moduli

Journal of Statistical Physics, 1986
New expressions for the elastic moduli of a classical system are derived. They involve only the two-point correlation function and the derivative of the onepoint correlation function, both only on the boundary of the system. These expressions, valid for any interaction derivable from a potential, are proved from a mechanical point of view by ...

Dynamics of a Contrast Agent Microbubble Attached to an Elastic Wall

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2012
A modified Rayleigh-Plesset equation is derived to model the oscillation of a contrast agent microbubble attached to an elastic wall. The obtained equation shows that contact with the wall affects the bubble oscillation as if the bubble oscillated in a liquid with a changed (effective) density.

The Rebound of an Elastic Sphere Against a Rigid Wall

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1996
The normal impact of an elastic sphere against a rigid plane is described using an elastic solution for a heavy sphere on a rigid plane found by Bondareva (1970). The solution is valid only in the case of equilibrium, but may be extended also to the dynamical case, provided that the time of duration of the impact is much larger that the time employed ...

Streaming flows in a channel with elastic walls

Physics of Fluids, 2002
The two-way coupling model for wave motion in a two-phase medium “fluid–elastic walls” accounting for interaction between those phases is considered within the frames of the boundary layer type approximation. An asymptotic linearized model including Navier–Stokes equations for the viscous incompressible fluid and the deformable plate motion equations ...

Elastic Wave Scattering on a Thin‐Walled Inclusion

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1997
AbstractThe dynamic three‐dimensional problem of interaction between an elastic wave and a thin‐walled elastic inclusion is considered. The incident wave length is comparable to the large linear size of the inclusion. Integral equations of motion are obtained by means of the asymptotic approach proposed.

Bubble detonation in a channel with elastic walls

Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves, 1995
One-dimensional flow of a gas-liquid system with an active gas phase in a channel with elastic walls is investigated. The structure problem is solved, i.e., a stationary solution of the equations of the joint motion of a bubbly liquid and a membrane has been found which connects two different equilibrium states and which contains a shock with an energy

The anisotropic elasticity of the plant cell wall

Wood Science and Technology, 1968
The plant cell wall is treated as a two phase fibre composite material in which the fibres are dispersed, in an isotropic matrix, in the plane of the cell wall with an angular distribution f(θ). If f (θ) can be represented by a gaussian it is shown that the elastic stiffness constants of the cell wall can be easily evaluated. The theory is applied to a
