Endoscopic ultrasound elastography-- a new imaging technique for the visualization of tissue elasticity distribution.

open access: yesJournal of gastrointestinal and liver diseases : JGLD, 2006
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) elastography is an imaging procedure used for the visualization of tissue elasticity during usual EUS examinations. EUS elastography can be accomplished real-time with state-of-the-art ultrasound systems, with the images being represented in transparent color superimposed on the conventional gray-scale B-mode scans.

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

Imaging displacement and strain in the medial gastrocnemius muscle during ankle-joint motion using 2D-ciné DENSE MRI

open access: yes, 2011
Skeletal muscle structure has been defined on both macro and microscopic levels by gross dissection, light- and electron-microscopy. The basic physiological building blocks involve the electromechanical coupling between interlinking actin and myosin ...

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Magnetic Resonance Elastography of Invasive Breast Cancer: Evaluating Prognostic Factors and Treatment Response

open access: yesTomography
Objectives: To assess the elasticity values in breast tissues using magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) and examine the association between elasticity values of invasive breast cancer with prognostic factors and the pathologic response to neoadjuvant ...

Defect Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Fused Filament Fabrication‐Manufactured 17‐4PH Stainless Steel Revealed by X‐Ray Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...

NDT techniques. Acoustic microscopy and holography

open access: yes, 2022
Vol.6Acoustic waves can penetrate into materials, and thus it is possible to study the microstructure of materials, detect small defects, study adhesive interfaces, and also gain information about elasticity and absoprtion.

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

A 3-D Multiparametric Ultrasound Elasticity Imaging System for Targeted Prostate Biopsy Guidance

open access: yes, 2023
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and second-leading cause of cancer death among men in the United States. Early and accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer remains challenging; following an abnormal rectal exam or elevated levels of prostate ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
