A New Technique For Elastic Registration Of Tomographic Images

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
A simple algorithm for geometric registration of tomographic images was developed to be applied to images of the heart obtained by Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Commonly, image misregistrations are not only caused by simple positioning differences like translation and rotation, but also by deformations that cannot be expressed by simple geometric

Supersonic shear imaging: a new technique for soft tissue elasticity mapping

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
Supersonic shear imaging (SSI) is a new ultrasound-based technique for real-time visualization of soft tissue viscoelastic properties. Using ultrasonic focused beams, it is possible to remotely generate mechanical vibration sources radiating low-frequency, shear waves inside tissues.

Comparison between different elastic imaging techniques on 2D OBS data

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2001, 2001
We present a comparative study of different elastic imaging techniques, performed on a 2D OBS acquisition. We experiment three imaging methods to illuminate a given target zone. The first one is a linearized elastic inversion method using a conjugate gradient; the Green’s functions are computed by finite differences.

A new technique for real-time freehand ultrasonic elasticity imaging

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2001
A method for high-speed, freehand ultrasonic elasticity imaging will be described. The method is based on a modified block matching technique. The modification serves two purposes. First, in order to achieve real-time performance a forward prediction mechanism is used to reduce the computational load that a conventional block matching technique ...

Surface matching of multimodality image volumes by a fuzzy elastic registration technique

Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics, 1998
Multimodality image registration is useful in diagnostic imaging and treatment planning for radiation therapy. In this paper, we present a technique which registers the surfaces of two volumes acquired by different medical imaging modalities. We represent the image volumes in terms of their surface elements known as tiles.

Three-dimensional imaging of carbon using an elastic scattering coincidence technique

Journal of Applied Physics, 2009
A setup is described for an elastic scattering coincidence technique installed at an ion microprobe facility. This setup is developed for three-dimensional (3D) profiling of light elements in thin transmission targets. In the present paper, 3D imaging of carbon is demonstrated.

Breast Elasticity Imaging Techniques: Comparison of Strain Elastography and Shear-Wave Elastography in the Same Population

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 2021
Our purpose was to compare the diagnostic performances of strain elastography (SE) and shear-wave elastography (SWE) in differentiating breast lesions by combining with conventional ultrasound (US). A total of 198 patients with 203 breast lesions underwent conventional US, SE and SWE examination using MyLab 90 and Aixplorer US systems.

Image correction techniques for 3D interactive surface using a transparent elastic gels

Proceedings of the International Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces, 2012
There are many kinds of three dimensional displays that have been developed to date. Most of them provide 3D visual sensation to the users, but they do not provide 3D haptic feedback. On the other hand, an interactive surface system using transparent gels enables users to touch a 3D surface.

New techniques in the elastic analysis of arch bridges using image processing

Strain, 1996
AbstractThe importance of the masonry arch in Britain's infrastructure has never been more significant than at the present time with ever increasing axle loads under new EEC regulations The searches have been shown to be significantly affected by the overlying fill.

Determination of elastic properties of latewood and earlywood by digital image analysis technique

Wood Science and Technology, 2019
The proportion of latewood varies from species to species and from site to site. To understand the stiffness of wood structures, it is necessary to accurately determine the modulus of elasticity (MOE) of the wood. In this paper, a digital image correlation method was used to analyze the surface strain of wood specimens during tensile testing and ...
