Surface matching of multimodality image volumes by a fuzzy elastic registration technique
Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics, 1998Multimodality image registration is useful in diagnostic imaging and treatment planning for radiation therapy. In this paper, we present a technique which registers the surfaces of two volumes acquired by different medical imaging modalities. We represent the image volumes in terms of their surface elements known as tiles.

Supersonic shear imaging: a new technique for soft tissue elasticity mapping
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004Supersonic shear imaging (SSI) is a new ultrasound-based technique for real-time visualization of soft tissue viscoelastic properties. Using ultrasonic focused beams, it is possible to remotely generate mechanical vibration sources radiating low-frequency, shear waves inside tissues.

A new technique for real-time freehand ultrasonic elasticity imaging
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2001A method for high-speed, freehand ultrasonic elasticity imaging will be described. The method is based on a modified block matching technique. The modification serves two purposes. First, in order to achieve real-time performance a forward prediction mechanism is used to reduce the computational load that a conventional block matching technique ...

Image correction techniques for 3D interactive surface using a transparent elastic gels
Proceedings of the International Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces, 2012There are many kinds of three dimensional displays that have been developed to date. Most of them provide 3D visual sensation to the users, but they do not provide 3D haptic feedback. On the other hand, an interactive surface system using transparent gels enables users to touch a 3D surface.

Three-dimensional imaging of carbon using an elastic scattering coincidence technique
Journal of Applied Physics, 2009A setup is described for an elastic scattering coincidence technique installed at an ion microprobe facility. This setup is developed for three-dimensional (3D) profiling of light elements in thin transmission targets. In the present paper, 3D imaging of carbon is demonstrated.

Comparison between different elastic imaging techniques on 2D OBS data
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2001, 2001We present a comparative study of different elastic imaging techniques, performed on a 2D OBS acquisition. We experiment three imaging methods to illuminate a given target zone. The first one is a linearized elastic inversion method using a conjugate gradient; the Green’s functions are computed by finite differences.

Determination of elastic properties of latewood and earlywood by digital image analysis technique
Wood Science and Technology, 2019The proportion of latewood varies from species to species and from site to site. To understand the stiffness of wood structures, it is necessary to accurately determine the modulus of elasticity (MOE) of the wood. In this paper, a digital image correlation method was used to analyze the surface strain of wood specimens during tensile testing and ...

Homogenization of the elastic properties of pyrolytic carbon based on an image processing technique
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2012AbstractIn this work, the linear elastic material properties of differently textured variants of pyrolytic carbon are homogenized from the submicro‐ to the micro‐scale. In high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) lattice fringe images, the microstructure of pyrolytic carbon manifests itself in terms of projections of graphene layers ...

X-ray scattering in the elastic regime as source for 3D imaging reconstruction technique
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2015Abstract X-ray beams propagate across a target object before they are projected onto a regularly spaced array of detectors to produce a routine X-ray image. A 3D attenuation coefficient distribution is obtained by tomographic reconstruction where scattering is usually regarded as a source of parasitic signals which increase the level of ...
