The physical nature of elastic layers
Journal of Elasticity, 1982This paper gives an interpretation of the layers of elastic potentials, which are used to solve elastic boundary value problems of bodies and plates (extensional case). The layers appear as physical quantities on the boundary of the complement of the original body.

The Physical Structure of Elastic Colloids
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1932Abstract 1. Some of the concepts included in the term “molecule” are briefly discussed and it is pointed out that the mechanical molecule is often the most important one in colloid systems. 2. The elastic properties of colloid systems require, and are produced by a group of four factors: (a) Long fibrous molecules.

Physics of Elasticity and Crystal Defects
2020Abstract Mechanical properties of crystalline materials are almost always dominated by the defects within them. The ability to shape metals into pipes, girders and furniture stems from the generation, motion and interaction of these defects.

Micromechanics: Elastic, Thermal, and Physical Properties
1993In this chapter, we examine the elastic and physical properties of ceramic matrix composites. In particular, we give a micromechanical description of the different elastic constants, thermal expansion coefficients, thermal conductivity, density, etc.

Physical Insight into the Elastic Brewster's Angle
Proceedings, 2012Light (EM) waves are transversely polarized and thus share properties with elastic shear waves. In particular, optical waves reflecting from an interface experience changes in their polarization. Brewster’s angle occurs for light reflecting from an interface such as air over a glass plate.

A physical basis for red cell membrane elasticity
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1976Abstract An estimate is made of the effect of lipid-water interactions at the membrane surface on observed membrane elasticity in the red blood cell. It is shown that elastic effects are expected to result from these interactions even in a completely fluid membrane.

The physical basis of elasticity of quasicrystals
2011The physical background on elasticity of quasicrystals is quite different from that of the classical elasticity, the discussion about this provides a basis of the subsequent contents of the book.

The new physics of ultrathin elastic conoids
Il Nuovo Cimento D, 1990Despite centuries of intense effort amongst mathematicians, and a huge literature in this field, there has previously never been a generally valid mathematical model of ultrathin elastic «shells» (actually surfaces) of revolution. This survey paper presents the first theoretical framework capable of unifying, into a single coherent body of knowledge, a
