Finite deformation of an elasto‐plastic soil

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1977
AbstractPresented in this paper is a formulation and a numerical solution method for problems which involve finite deformations of an elasto‐plastic material. The governing equations are cast in rate form and the constitutive laws are formulated in a frame indifferent manner. Particular reference is made to the finite deformation of soil.

The analysis of finite elasto‐plastic consolidation

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1979
AbstractA theoretical formulation and a numerical solution method are proposed for the problem of the time dependent consolidation of an elasto‐plastic soil subject to finite deformations. The soil is assumed to be a two‐phase material with a skeleton which may yield according to a general yield criterion with plastic flow governed by a general flow ...

The Elasto-Plastic Transition in Magnesium Alloys

2012
Published neutron diffraction data on internal strains in a textured polycrystal of AZ31 alloy and tensile data for a random polycrystal of Mg are discussed from two complementary points of view, a purely phenomenological and a formal crystallographic one.

Elasto‐plastic finite element analysis

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1977
AbstractAn elasto‐plastic finite element small displacement procedure to predict the behaviour of structures under cyclic loads is presented. The solution combines incremental procedure with correction for equilibrium and iterative scheme. Applications are made for a rectangular strip and a notched bar under cyclic axial loads.

Isotropic Elasto-Plastic Damage Mechanics

2010
Most of the plastic damage models attempt to bring together the theories of plasticity and continuum damage mechanics to yield a unified approach to the damage constitutive model and damage growth model of isotropic damaged materials. The formulation is cast within the generalization of classical plasticity theories by means of the internal variable ...

Stationary Waves in Elasto-plastic and Visco-elasto-plastic Bodies

2006
Attention is paid to the analysis of longitudinal vibration of a semi-infinite rod loaded by a harmonic force at one end. A rod with different constitutive equations is considered, and vibration decay with distance from the loaded end is sought. In order to overcome problems caused by nonlinearity of the constitutive equations, the method of harmonic ...

On Elasto-plastic waves in laminated composites

International Journal of Engineering Science, 1975
Abstract The propagation of elasto-plastic waves in a laminated medium is considered. Based on the assumption of perfectly elastic fiber layers and an elasto-plastic behavior of the matrix layers, a continuum model is deduced for wave motion either parallel to or normal to the direction of layers.

Elasto-Plastic Frames

2015
The goal of this chapter is to describe how the concepts presented in Chapters 5 and 6 can be included in the mathematical models for the elastic plastic analysis of frame structures. The numerical implementation of such an analysis is described in Chapter 8.
