MR elastography

Gastroentérologie Clinique et Biologique, 2008
Magnetic resonance (MR) elastography is an emerging method for measuring the viscoelastic properties of tissues. Hepatic fibrosis, which increases the elasticity or stiffness of the liver, can be detected and staged by MR elastography. The technique has several advantages compared with transient ultrasound elastography (FibroScan): it can evaluate much

Oestreicher and elastography

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2015
A sphere moving back and forth in tissue generates the kinds of complex displacement fields that are used in elastography. The analytical solution of Hans Oestreicher for this phenomenon [(1951). J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 23, 704–714] gives an understanding of the transverse and longitudinal, fast and slow waves that are generated.

Transient elastography

Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2010
AbstractIn clinical practice, it is important to assess the severity of liver fibrosis in patients with various liver diseases to determine the prognosis, decide treatment, and monitor disease progression and response to treatment. Liver biopsy is limited by its invasiveness and patient acceptability.

Elastography

European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation, 2002
Intravascular ultrasound elastography is a method for measuring the local elastic properties of coronary atherosclerotic plaques using intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). Mechanical properties of the different tissues within a plaque are measured through strain.

Elastography: A systems approach

International Journal of Imaging Systems and Technology, 1997
We present a review of elastography from a systems point of view. We show that elastography can be viewed as a cascade of two distinct processes. The first process involves the mapping of the distribution of local elastic moduli in the target into a distribution of local longitudinal strains.

Advances in imaging—Elastography

Hepatology
Chronic liver disease affects over a billion people worldwide. Liver fibrosis is the key driver of liver-related complications and mortality. Elastography has been a transformative tool in hepatology, allowing for the diagnosis and staging of liver fibrosis noninvasively, and is evolving beyond these purposes into a prognostication tool.
