A One‐Dimensional (1D) Computational Fluid Dynamics Study of Fontan‐Associated Liver Disease (FALD)

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 1, January 2026.
Fontan‐associated liver disease (FALD) is a disorder arising from congestion in the liver. This disease is prominent in patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Through perfusion analysis, we find that as FALD progresses, there are increased pressures and decreased flow to certain regions of liver tissue.

Effectiveness of Saroglitazar in MASLD Patients: A Prospective, Real‐World Assessment of Liver and Metabolic Health

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 2026.
Saroglitazar 4 mg daily for 6 months significantly improved liver stiffness, steatosis, and metabolic parameters in patients with MASLD in this prospective, real‐world study. The drug demonstrated meaningful regression of fibrosis and steatosis with stable BMI, highlighting its dual hepatic and metabolic benefits in MASLD management.

Aspirin Use Does Not Significantly Reduce the Risk of Liver Fibrosis in Patients With Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our study did not find that aspirin significantly reduces the risk of liver fibrosis in patients with MASLD. Therefore, the long‐term use of aspirin solely for the prevention of liver fibrosis progression cannot be recommended in patients without high cardiovascular or cerebrovascular risk.

Natural‐History Mapping of Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSDs): Gaucher Disease as a Model for Precision Care

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Natural‐history datasets have become pivotal for drug development and for shaping clinical‐practice guidelines in rare diseases, yet many lysosomal storage disorders would benefit from deep phenotyping and modern analytic methods. Our objective was to integrate the past decade of genomic, cellular, treatment‐outcome, and regulatory advances ...

Current Uses for Medical Imaging With Orthopaedic Implant Technology

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Musculoskeletal applications have been at the forefront of medical imaging since the first‐ever x‐ray was taken of a hand. Radiography remains routine in orthopaedics for surgical planning and diagnosing implant complications. Fluoroscopy is used to guide intra‐operative implant placement and to assess kinematics of different implants ...
