Use of Electric Arc Furnace Slag for High Strength Concrete Production

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
In this paper the use of Electric Arc Furnace slag (EAF slag) for the production of High-Performances Concrete (HPC) is explored, as a fully replacement of the natural gravel. Several mixtures were produced, varying the water/cement ratio, the cement and the admixture content, with the aim of reaching a strength class between C50/60 and C60/75, and an ...

Chemical, Thermal and Phase Analysis of Malaysia’s Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Slag Waste

Materials Science Forum, 2016
This study aims to characterize and investigate properties of EAF slag waste obtained from Southern Steel Berhad, Penang (one of Malaysia’s largest steel makers), prior to its recycling into valuable products. Before characterization, lump form of the EAF slag was crushed into micron size powder. The properties investigated were loss of ignition (L.O.I.

Overheat induced failure of a steel tube in an electric arc furnace (EAF) cooling system

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2008
Abstract A fractured steel tube component from the cooling system of an electric-arc-furnace (EAF) of a steelmaking plant was received with a request of a failure analysis investigation. The specific damage caused steam leakage and led to the furnace shut-down for maintenance resulting in significant steel production delays.

Suitability of electric arc furnace (eaf) slag as partial replacement for cement in sandcrete blocks

Global Journal of Engineering Research, 2012
The use of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Slag which is a by-product solid waste in Steel Production was investigated for use as a partial replacement for cement in sandcrete blocks. The tests carried out on cement and finely ground slag to determine their compositions and physico-chemical properties as well as the evaluation of the results are presented ...
