Electrical Breakdown in Gases in Electric Fields
1990The physical phenomenon to be addressed in this chapter is the growth of ionization of a gas in an electric field and the subsequent breakdown of the insulating properties of the gas. This phenomenon forms the basis of operation for all high power gas switches (Burkes, 1978).
