Electrical Capacitance Tomography − A Perspective

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2008
This article describes the recent progress in research and development on electrical capacitance tomography (ECT). Specifically, the article highlights several aspects of ECT including the electrical capacitance volume tomography (ECVT), 3D sensor design, 3D neural network multicriterion image reconstruction technique (3D-NN-MOIRT), multimodal imaging ...

The Electrical Capacitance of Small Systems

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2000
The electrical capacitance of several small systems is determined by using results given by the fluctuation-dissipation theorem in the classical limit. Estimating the electrical capacitance is important because it is the link to knowledge of the fluctuation of several physical quantities, voltage and field fluctuations, dipole moment, pH, and charge ...

Adaptive Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2014
Electrical capacitance volume tomography (ECVT) has shown to be an effective low-cost and high-speed imaging technique suitable for many applications, including 3-D reconstruction of multiphase flow systems. In this paper, we introduce the concept of adaptive ECVT based upon the combination of a large number of small individual sensor segments to ...

Electrical capacitance of ion-exchanger membranes

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1967
Abstract The electrical impedance of ion-exchanger membranes between identical solutions of uni-univalent electrolyte was studied. At subaudio frequencies there was a large capacitance (Farads/cm 2 ) which varied with frequency, electrolyte concentration, individual diffusion constant of membrane co- and counter-ion, and sign of membrane charge.

A miniature electrical capacitance tomograph

Measurement Science and Technology, 2006
The paper describes a miniature electrical capacitance tomography system. This is based on a custom CMOS silicon integrated circuit comprising eight channels of signal conditioning electronics to source drive signals and measure voltages. Electrodes are deposited around a hole that is fabricated, using ultrasonic drilling, through a ceramic substrate ...

An advanced algorithm of electrical capacitance tomography

Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences, 1999
We describe a new two-phase flow electrical capacitance tomography algorithm of image reconstruction which is based on 12-electrode capacitance transducers. According to the result of computer simulation, this algorithm is able to greatly increase the imaging fidelity without decreasing the imaging velocity.

TUMOR CAPACITANCE: ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTS OF RENAL NEOPLASIA

Journal of Urology, 2004
Studies have demonstrated that biological tissues possess unique electrical properties. We evaluate the electrical properties of renal tumors using a specialized probe with the capability of measuring intra-tissue capacitance in an ex vivo model of fresh surgically excised tissue. An electrical monitoring device was used to measure tissue capacitance at

Electrical capacitance tomography: image reconstruction along electrical field lines

Measurement Science and Technology, 2001
For image reconstruction in electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) various implementations of the linear backprojection (LBP) algorithm and iterative reconstruction techniques have become the standard in most applications. Most implementations suffer from a smoothing effect and lack of accuracy due to their smooth sensitivity maps and the so-called ...

Simulation study of Electrical Capacitance Tomography

2011 Second International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2011
By using ANSYS for formulation and solution of the finite element, a model of Electrical Capacitance Tomography electrodes array was constructed. Based on the model, the sensitivity matrix of the sensor was calculated and sensitivity response was analyzed.

The Magnetized Capacitance, First Resonant Frequency, and Electromagnetic Analysis of Inductors With Ferrite Cores

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print)
The parasitic capacitance of magnetic components, i.e., inductors and transformers, are crucial, because it dominates the high-frequency impedance, causes voltage / current spikes, and arouses electromagnetic interference issues.
