Electric field measurements in solar flares

Solar Physics, 1986
Meaurements of solar flare spectra have allowed the electric field strengths in two flares to be determined, using the Inglis-Teller formula. Further, an independently estimated value for the electron density has allowed the two components of this field, that is, the interionic component and the external component that arises, for example, through ...

Electric Field measurements in air

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2010, 2010
A recent breakthrough in non-contacting electric field measurement at RMIT University may realistically achieve the prospect of low-frequency Electric field measurements in the air. Prototype RMIT Electric, non-contacting chargecoupled (En3c) sensors, while directly-coupled, have a bandwidth limited by audio electronic components to the 20 Hz to 20 kHz

Magneto-electrical Field-effect Measurements†

Journal of Electronics and Control, 1960
ABSTRACT Further experimental results are given on the influence of combined orthogonal transverse electric and magnetic fields on the mobility of the carriers in the space charge layer at the surface of a semiconductor. In particular, it is shown that the Hall field could change the type of surface layer.

Electric Field Measurements with Balloons

1980
Stratospheric balloons have in the last decade been used for investigating the electric field of the magnetosphere. The idea behind this technique is outlined and problems involved are discussed. A number of examples of measurements related to various subjects are given.

Optical Device For Electric Field Measurements

SPIE Proceedings, 1989
We have developped a new kind of all-optical device for measuring electrics fields, based on electric field induced second optical harmonic generation in optically nonlinear polymers (polydia cetylenes). Owing to their centrosymmetry these polymers do not generate spontaneously second optical harmonic. When an external electric field Eo is applied, the

Optical Measurements in Electric Fields

1987
Abstract : The results of a theoretical and experimental investigation of laser- based diagnostic techniques for the measurement of electric fields in discharges are presented. A theoretical assessment made of those techniques most likely to be successful in electric-field measurements under various plasma conditions is discussed.

Electric field measurements in klystron cavities

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1971
A qualitative comparison is made between computed and measured electric fields in typical TM 010 klystron cavities. The computer code LALA is shown to apply effectively to cavities with offset gaps which are difficult to solve analytically, and a bead-pull technique using a highly directive perturbing needle is utilized to verify the theoretical ...

Electric field measurements using inert electrodes

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1975
Abstract A simple method is described and shown capable of measuring electric field strengths in electrolytes using closely spaced inert electrodes. Measurements were accomplished by monitoring the change in potential between bright platinum electrodes resulting from either a current interruption, or from a current pulse, superimposed on a direct ...
