The effect of electric fishing on the subsequent capture of fish*
Journal of Fish Biology, 1975Experiments show that the first of a series of replicate electric fishings can cause a decrease in catchability so that the second and subsequent catches are made from what is, effectively, a reduced population. Depletion (DeLury) estimates can be thus seriously low.

Sex Differences in Electric Signaling in an Electric Fish
Science, 1972The electric discharge of Sternopygus macrurus is distinctly different from the discharges of ten sympatric species of electric fish in Guyana, South America. Sternopygus is the first known example of a fish with sexually different electric discharges.

The electric field of a weakly electric fish
1994Freshwater fish of the genus Apteronotus (family Gymnotidae) generate a weak, high frequency electric field (< 100 mV/cm, 0.5-10 kHz) which permeates their local environment. These nocturnal fish are acutely sensitive to perturbations in their electric field caused by other electric fish, and nearby objects whose impedance is different from the ...

Synposis:The construction of dams across fresh-water rivers supplying Hydro-Electric schemes has raised the problem of providing less costly methods than mechanical screens for preventing migratory fish from entering inlet and outlet tunnels of water turbines.
