Assessing skin thermal injury risk in exposure tests of heating until flight [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We assess the skin thermal injury risk in the situation where a test subject is exposed to an electromagnetic beam until the occurrence of flight action. The physical process is modeled as follows. The absorbed electromagnetic power increases the skin temperature.

Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

Can artificial wounding of beech stems induce necroses?

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2005
The paper presents data on the induction of necroses after small injuries to beech stems caused by electrodes during measuring cambium electric resistance. Altogether 121 beech stems of tree class 1-3 (according to Kraft) were evaluated.

Efficacy of Temporal Interference Electrical Stimulation for Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation: A Case Series [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a debilitating condition that often results in significant motor and sensory deficits, impacting the quality of life. Current rehabilitation methods, including physical therapy and electrical stimulation, offer variable outcomes and often require invasive procedures.

Early feasibility of an embedded bi-directional brain-computer interface for ambulation [PDF]

open access: yes
Current treatments for paraplegia induced by spinal cord injury (SCI) are often limited by the severity of the injury. The accompanying loss of sensory and motor functions often results in reliance on wheelchairs, which in turn causes reduced quality of life and increased risk of co-morbidities.

Stable, Easy‐to‐Handle, Fully Autologous Electrospun Polymer‐Peptide Skin Equivalent for Severe Burn Injuries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bioengineered skin equivalent composed of electrospun poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) and the bioactive peptide Fmoc‐FRGD is developed for severe burn treatment. This scaffold promotes full‐thickness skin regeneration by supporting cellular adhesion and integration. In‐vitro and in‐vivo studies show enhanced mechanical stability, accelerated wound closure,

NFL Injuries Before and After the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The National Football League's (NFL) 2011 collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with its players placed a number of contact and quantity limitations on practices and workouts. Some coaches and others have expressed a concern that this has led to poor conditioning and a subsequent increase in injuries. We sought to assess whether the 2011 CBA's practice

Versatile Green Transfer of Magnetoelectronics with Loss‐Free Performance and High Adhesion for Interactive Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An environmentally friendly transfer printing method of nm‐thick giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensors is demonstrated. This method, relying on water and biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer without the need of complex treatments, allows transferring thin films to a wide range of biological, organic, and inorganic substrates.
