Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

MODULUS OF ELASTICITY AND MODULUS OF RUPTURE OF ELECTRICAL PORCELAIN

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Association, Japan, 1937
Measuring the modulus of elasticity and that of rupture for electrical porcelain with the small cross sectional area, the following results have been obtained.1. When the grain size of green body is reduced, the modules of rupture and the modulus of elasticity become larger, but the increase of the latter is smaller when compared with that of the ...

Investigation of frequency dependent electrical and dielectric properties of maple wood (acer trautvetteri medw.) with different surface treatments

open access: yesDrewno
In this study, the electrical and dielectric properties of maple wood (Acer trautvetteri Medw.) were comprehensively investigated under three different surface conditions: untreated control (CW), two-week water immersion (SW), and double varnish (VW), as

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Influence of Zn-substitution on structural, magnetic, dielectric, and electric properties of Li–Ni–Cu ferrites

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
The polycrystalline Li0.15Ni0.6-xZnxCu0.1Fe2.15O4 ferrites are fabricated by the method of conventional solid-state reaction technique. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirms that the structure of the composition is a single-phase cubic spinel structure ...

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...
