Electric submersible pump behavior for pumping non-Newtonian fluids
Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2020Abstract The performance of two electric submersible pumps (ESP), when pumping non-Newtonian polymer fluids, was tested at a pump test facility of the university. The results are compared with existing models, and the de-rating coefficients are evaluated for the operating range of the pumps that allow a proper design of ESP field installations.

Analysis of Submersible Electric Pumping Systems
SPE Production Operations Symposium, 1987ABSTRACT This paper presents a field proven analytical method of evaluating submersible electric pumping equipment and well performance jointly. A computerized mathematical model is described which considers the effects of free gas, pump speed (variable frequency drives) and pump tapering.

Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) in oil and gas industry is a multistage centrifugal pump used to lift moderate or high volumes of fluids from wellbores. In other words, ESP is one of the artificial lift methods that uses a downhole pump to provide an additional energy or additional lift to fluids inside the wellbore and hence improve hydrocarbon ...

Modelling and simulation of electric submersible pumps
IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference. IEMDC'99. Proceedings (Cat. No.99EX272), 2003The electric submersible pump unit consists of a pump powered by a medium-voltage three-phase induction motor. Starting the pump causes heavy dynamic stresses on the motor shaft and the mechanical connection between pump (impellers) and shaft. System models are developed to predict the electrical and mechanical conditions on starting.

Metric Learning for Electrical Submersible Pump Fault Diagnosis
2020 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2020Machine learning classification algorithms are highly dependent of a dataset composed of high-level features. In this paper, a deep learning approach is combined with traditional machine learning classifiers in order to circumvent the need of a specialist for extracting relevant features from one dimensional frequency-domain vibration signals.

Electrical Submersible Pumps in Subsea Completions
Proceedings of Offshore Europe, 1991ABSTRACT Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP's) are being utilised on production platforms as a method of artificial lift for enhanced recovery of oil. With more subsea fields being developed, it is apparent that there will be a demand for this technology in subsea completions.

Performance Enhancement of an Electric Submersible Pump
ASME 2014 Gas Turbine India Conference, 2014A numerical analysis and optimization has been done for a single stage electric submersible pump (ESP) which is basically a centrifugal pump to retrofit into wellbore in groundwater pumping or oil pumping. The pump is designed and simulated using a commercial code.
