Electrical Coupling between Olfactory Glomeruli [PDF]

open access: yesNeuron, 2010
In the Drosophila antennal lobe, excitation can spread between glomerular processing channels. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of lateral excitation. Dual recordings from excitatory local neurons (eLNs) and projection neurons (PNs) showed that eLN-to-PN synapses transmit both hyperpolarization and depolarization, are not diminished by ...

Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

OptoGap is an optogenetics-enabled assay for quantification of cell–cell coupling in multicellular cardiac tissue

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Intercellular electrical coupling is an essential means of communication between cells. It is important to obtain quantitative knowledge of such coupling between cardiomyocytes and non-excitable cells when, for example, pathological electrical coupling ...

Electrical Interference Simulation and Prediction Model for Acoustoelectric Logging Detector

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Acoustic logging instruments generate high voltages in the order of thousands of volts. Electrical interferences are thus induced by high-voltage pulses that affect the logging tool and make it inoperable owing to damaged components in severe cases. High-

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Transient dynamics and rhythm coordination of inferior olive spatio-temporal patterns

open access: yesFrontiers in Neural Circuits, 2013
The inferior olive (IO) is a neural network belonging to the olivo-cerebellar system whose neurons are coupled with electrical synapses and display subthreshold oscillations and spiking activity. The IO generates complex spatio-temporal patterns.

Structural models for coupled electricity markets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Commodity Markets, 2014
One of the major changes in european electricity markets is - besides the increasing share of renewable infeed - the fact that previously independent market areas have been connected. Day-Ahead auctions are no longer done separately and available interconnector capacity are not always auctioned independently from electricity.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.
