Comparative Insights and Overlooked Factors of Interphase Chemistry in Alkali Metal‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review presents a comparative analysis of Li‐, Na‐, and K‐ion batteries, focusing on the critical role of electrode–electrolyte interphases. It especially highlights overlooked aspects such as SEI/CEI misconceptions, binder effects, and self‐discharge relevance, emphasizing the limitations of current understanding and offering strategies for ...

Electric Discharge Machining

2023
In the last decade, there has been an increase in interest in electrical discharge machining (EDM)'s innovative applications, with a focus on this technology's potential for surface modification. Along with the erosion of the work material during machining, the inherent nature of the operation also causes some tool material to be lost.

Electrical Discharge Machining

2015
The machining processes introduced in the previous chapters center around the generation of relative motion between the workpiece and the wedge-shaped cutting tool. In these traditional processes, the fundamental mechanism responsible for the removal of materials is the plastic shearing action along the shear plane.

Electrical Discharge Machining

2012
Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is considered suitable for machining materials that are extremely hard or strong, and are wear or temperature resistant. In Chap. 2, we outline EDM characteristics of carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composites and AISI D2 tool steel. This article is organized as follows: first, the effects of EDM processing variables

Electrical discharge machining with ultralow discharge energy

Precision Engineering, 2006
The possibility of electrical discharge machining (EDM) with ultralow discharge energy has been investigated. EDM using an RC discharge circuit was performed at low open-circuit voltages and a capacitance of approximately 30 pF. Workpieces were ultrasonically vibrated to remove debris and bubbles from the discharge gap, thus preventing short-circuiting.

Wire Electrical Discharge Machines

2008
Amongst the non-conventional machining processes, electrical discharge machining has no doubt gained a deserved reputation and popularity in the second half of the 20th century. Wire electrical discharge machines appeared some 30 years ago, and since then the development of new applications in the field of very hard material precision machining, and ...

Electric Discharge Machining

1974
Compared to other fabrication techniques, spark machining is a relatively unknown process. However, for certain applications it is the only method that can be used. Conversely, if other methods can achieve satisfactory results, then spark machining is probably not the best method.

Electrical Discharge Machining

1989
Abstract This article discusses the use of a shaped electrode for electrical discharge machining (EDM). It describes the operational methodology of the EDM. Topography, metallurgical and chemical effects, and surface integrity of the EDM surface are reviewed.

Prosthesis fabrication using electrical discharge machining

Implant Dentistry, 1992
Fixed-removable implant prostheses provide solutions for some of the problems associated with implant dentistry, especially in the maxilla. The technique for using electrical discharge machining to create a precise passive fit between the substructure bar and the removable suprastructure is presented.
