Enhanced Sensitivity in Low‐Energy Inverse Photoemission Spectroscopy with an Off‐Axis Parabolic Mirror for Efficient Light Collection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents an enhancement in the sensitivity of inverse photoemission spectroscopy (IPES) by more than 20 times by utilizing a custom‐made off‐axis parabolic mirror for improved light collection. Combined with ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (UPS), the enhanced sensitivity of our IPES setup allows for comprehensive mapping of interface ...

Self‐Folded Corrugated Origami Sensor Based on Triboelectric Nanogenerator for a Smart Cushioning Device

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A corrugated origami TENG (CO‐TENG) soft sensor utilizes paper self‐folding technology to create battery‐free devices by laminating and folding sheet materials. In the object drop test, the voltage generated by CO‐TENG is classified with machine learning to achieve an accuracy of 98.9%, which shows its potential for smart cushioning devices.

Piezoelectric Polyurethane/Barium Titanate Composites with High Stretchability and Voltage Output for Energy Harvesting in Soft Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Piezoelectric additives are combined with an elastomer host, creating a material with properties of both parent materials: high voltage output and exceptional stretchability. These stretchable piezoelectric materials have the robustness for integration into soft wearable electronics, functioning as renewable energy harvesters to charge capacitors.

How to Manufacture Photonic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Metamaterials boast applications such as invisibility and “hyperlenses” with resolution beyond the diffraction limit, but these applications haven’t been exploited in earnest and the market for them hasn’t grown much likely because facile and economical methods for fabricating them without defect has not emerged.
