Wire Electrical Discharge Machines

2008
Amongst the non-conventional machining processes, electrical discharge machining has no doubt gained a deserved reputation and popularity in the second half of the 20th century. Wire electrical discharge machines appeared some 30 years ago, and since then the development of new applications in the field of very hard material precision machining, and ...

Optimizing dimensional accuracy of titanium alloy features produced by wire electrical discharge machining

Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2019
This study investigates geometrical errors such as cylindricity, circularity and diametral errors of a feature (a hole) produced from wire electrical discharge machining of Ti6Al4V alloy where tension in wire, pulse on time, and flushing pressure are ...

Electric Discharge Machining

1974
Compared to other fabrication techniques, spark machining is a relatively unknown process. However, for certain applications it is the only method that can be used. Conversely, if other methods can achieve satisfactory results, then spark machining is probably not the best method.

Electrical Discharge Machining in Gas

CIRP Annals, 1997
Abstract In this paper, we show that electrical discharge machining (EDM) can be achieved in gas. With the help of a high-pressure gas flow supplied through a thin-walled pipe electrode, the molten workpiece material can be removed and flushed out of the working gap without being reattached to the electrode surfaces.

Electrical Discharge Machining

1989
Abstract This article discusses the use of a shaped electrode for electrical discharge machining (EDM). It describes the operational methodology of the EDM. Topography, metallurgical and chemical effects, and surface integrity of the EDM surface are reviewed.

Measuring the influence of discharge energy on white layer thickness in electrical discharge machining process

Measurement, 2019
In electrical discharge machining, the performance measures are mainly influenced by the discharge energy developed during the machining process. Owing to its higher strength, stainless steel can be easily machined by electrical discharge machining under

Electrical discharge machining.

Journal of dental technology : the peer-reviewed publication of the National Association of Dental Laboratories, 1998
This article describes a laboratory technique of achieving the highest degree of passive fit of an implant-retained restoration using electric discharge machining (EDM). This process can save time by eliminating the need for conventional soldering procedures, increase the longevity of the restoration, and when used along with the clinical technique of ...
