Growth of Subsurface Fatigue Fractures in Large‐Size Bevel Gears
ABSTRACT Large‐size bevel gears are commonly used in marine industry for the applications of propulsion, such as azimuth thrusters. The gears are typically designed for specific use, as they are directly transferring power from one component to another.

Dry sliding friction and wear response of WC-Co hardmetal pairs in linearly reciprocating and rotating contact [PDF]
This paper presents an experimental evaluation of friction and wear properties of WC-Co cemented carbides. A comparison is made between unlubricated rotating and linearly reciprocating pin-onplate sliding pairs. The plate specimens were WC-10wt%Co grades

EDM Milling. A New Process in Electrical Discharge Machining.
The conventional die sinking machining uses shaped electrodes as tools. By the EDM Milling machining, the shape of the cavity is generated by the automatically controlled movement of an cylindrical electrode. Due to the length of the machining path, the wear of the electrode becomes important.
