Random Scattering Matrices and the Circuit Theory of Andreev Conductances
The conductance of a normal-metal mesoscopic system in proximity to superconducting electrode(s) is calculated. The normal-metal part may have a general geometry, and is described as a ``circuit'' with ``leads'' and ``junctions''.

Quench protection analysis in accelerator magnets, a review of the tools
As accelerator magnets see the increase of their magnetic field and stored energy, quench protection becomes a critical part of the magnet design. Due to the complexity of the quench phenomenon interweaving magnetic, electrical and thermal analysis, the ...

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Tinnitus suppression using electrical stimulation
Tinnitus is a phantom sound perceived only by the affected person. Although the causes for tinnitus may be very diverse (e.g. hearing loss, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, Meniere’s disease, otosclerosis), they all lead to pathological activation of ...

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Recording of atmospheric electrical potential gradient in the central part of Kamchatka peninsula
Electrostatic fluxmeters are in operation at three sites in the region of Central Kamchatka depression to record the atmospheric electrical potential gradient (PG). PG diurnal variations for these sites are compared with those of «Paratunka» observatory (
