Unstable Weak Imbibition in Fractured Porous Media: Microfluidic and Theoretical Insights
Water Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 6, June 2026.Abstract Weak imbibition in permeable media is crucial for CO2 geological sequestration, oil and gas extraction, and groundwater contamination and remediation. Previous studies predicted that weak imbibition under favorable viscosity ratios produces stable displacement, but this assumption may fail in fractured porous media.
