Electro-optically tunable microring resonators in lithium niobate
Optical microresonators have recently attracted a growing attention in the photonics community. Their applications range from quantum electro-dynamics to sensors and filtering devices for optical telecommunication systems, where they are likely to become

Herein, it is shown how the novel layout and arrangement of electrodes of a vertical‐cavity surface‐emitting laser (VCSEL) array can simultaneously improve its high‐speed data transmission performance and the brightness of the output beam. In contrast to

We present a detailed simulation study on plasmonic-organic hybrid electro-optic modulators based on coupled symmetric or asymmetric plasmonic slots. An electro-optic polymer is exploited as an active material, and the device is compatible with a silicon

Chaotic Breathers in Delayed Electro-Optical Systems [PDF]
We show that in integro-differential delayed dynamical systems, a hybrid state of simultaneous fast-scale chaos and slow-scale periodicity can emerge subsequently to a sequence of Hopf bifurcations. The resulting time trace thereby consists in chaotic oscillations "breathing" periodically at a significantly lower frequency.

Cellulose‐Based Radiative Cooling and Solar Heating Powers Ionic Thermoelectrics
Cellulose opens for sustainable materials suitable for radiative cooling thanks to inherent high thermal emissivity combined with low solar absorptance. When desired, solar absorptance can be introduced by additives such as carbon black.

Exploring a Band-Edge Bragg Grating Modulator on a Hybrid Thin-Film Lithium Niobate Platform
In this work, we design, model, and characterize the Bragg grating modulator (BGM) on silicon-rich nitride and thin-film lithium niobate (SRN-TFLN) platform.

Controlling phonons and photons at the wavelength-scale: silicon photonics meets silicon phononics [PDF]
Radio-frequency communication systems have long used bulk- and surface-acoustic-wave devices supporting ultrasonic mechanical waves to manipulate and sense signals. These devices have greatly improved our ability to process microwaves by interfacing them

Shape recognition using orientational and morphological scale‐spaces of curvatures
In this study, a scale‐invariant representation for closed planar curves (silhouettes) is proposed. The orientations of all points within the Gaussian scale‐space of the curve are extracted.
