Advanced Electrode Design for Low-Voltage High-Speed Thin-Film Lithium Niobate Modulators

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
In this paper, we present a novel transmission line architecture in thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) platforms to improve the velocity match between the microwave and the optical wave.

Modulator structures for radio-on-fiber applications

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2003
Traditional electro-optic modulators are not optimized for bandpass applications such as radio-on-fiber delivery systems due to their limited electro-optic response.

Methods for determining the phase difference of the output signals for the receiving elements of a phased antenna array in a radiophoton circuit with parallel and series pairwise connection of electro-optical modulators [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики, 2021
Obtaining accurate phase values of the output signals for the receiving elements of a phased array antenna is one of the crucial issues relating to radio-photon technologies in radar and radio communication.

An analysis of the 2016 Hitomi breakup event

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2017
The breakup of Hitomi (ASTRO-H) on 26 March 2016 is analysed. Debris from the fragmentation is used to estimate the time of the event by propagating backwards and estimating the close approach with the parent object.

Spectrally Fragmented Electrical Dispersion Compensation for High-Speed Microstrip Traces in Data Centers Connections

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
The frequency-dependent dispersion impairment of high-speed printed analog traces in next-generation pluggable modules is studied. This frequency dependence is considered for the first time in optical fiber communication systems.

Design and implementation of an electro-optical backplane with pluggable in-plane connectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The design, implementation and characterisation of an electro-optical backplane and an active pluggable in-plane optical connector technology is presented. The connection architecture adopted allows line cards to be mated to and unmated from a passive

Calibrating electro-optic sampling systems [PDF]

open access: yes2001 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Sympsoium Digest (Cat. No.01CH37157), 2002
We apply frequency-domain impedance mismatch corrections to a temporal electro-optic sampling system and use it to characterize the magnitude and phase response of a photoreceiver that is physically far removed from the point where the voltage waveforms are measured. We identify and evaluate additional sources of measurement uncertainty.

Real-Time Atmospheric Turbulence Mitigation Using CPU-Based Multiframe Fusion on Embedded Electro-Optical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
Atmospheric turbulence degrades long-range electro-optical (EO) imagery with geometric warping, blur, and temporal jitter. We present a CPU-only, registration-free, tile-wise multi-frame fusion operator specifically tailored for embedded mission systems ...

Dual-drive LiNbO_3 interferometric Mach-Zehnder architecture with extended linear regime for high peak-to-average OFDM-based communication systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A dual-drive LiNbO3 architecture modulator with chirp management is proposed and developed offering SFDR > 25 dB in a 1.4 V bias excursion compared to only 0.5 V bias excursion in a conventional Mach-Zehnder electro-optical modulator (MZ-EOM).
