Electro thermal analysis of rotary type micro thermal actuator

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
In micro domain, thermal actuators are favored because it provides higher force and deflection than others. This paper presents a new type of micro thermal actuator that provides rotary motion of the circular disc shaped cold arm, which can be used in various optical applications, such as, switching, attenuation, diffraction, etc.

An arnoldi based thermal network reduction method for electro-thermal analysis

IEEE Transactions on Components and Packaging Technologies, 2003
In this paper we consider the problem of approximating the large discretized thermal network that models the heat conduction phenomenon in an electrical system by means of models of reduced state-space dimensions. To this aim we present an efficient and numerically stable Arnoldi type algorithm by which a multi-point moment matching approximant of the ...

Package Reliability Analysis with Coupled Electro-Thermal and Mechanical Modeling

MRS Proceedings, 2013
ABSTRACTPower consumption and dissipation during electrical operation lead to a temperature rise in the package. Elevated temperature in the package structure induces thermo-mechanical stresses which may increase reliability risks. Robust and reliable package design for power systems requires comprehensive analysis of system electrical, thermal, and ...

Experimental analysis of electro-thermal instability in SiC Power MOSFETs

Microelectronics Reliability, 2013
Abstract In this paper we experimentally demonstrate that SiC high voltage Power MOSFTEs exhibit an unstable electro-thermal behavior for given electrical conditions, depending on the chip thermal impedance. This instability can lead to hot-spot formation and eventually thermal runaway whit subsequent device destruction after a stressful short ...

Lumped electro-thermal modeling and analysis of carbon nanotube interconnects

2016
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) due to their unique electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties are being investigated as promising candidate material for on-chip and off-chip interconnects. The attractive mechanical properties of CNTs, including high Youngs modulus, resiliency, and low thermal expansion coefficient, offer great advantage for reliable and ...

TRANSIENT ELECTRO-THERMAL ANALYSIS OF TRACTION INVERTERS

2014
The thermal design constraint of power electronic converters under the specific power loss and heat sink is mainly determined by the maximum permissible junction temperature of the power devices. As the power density and switching frequency increase, transient electro-thermal models become more and more important for the thermal management system ...
