Automated Netlist Generation for 3D Electrothermal and Electromagnetic Field Problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present a method for the automatic generation of netlists describing general three-dimensional electrothermal and electromagnetic field problems.

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

A Coupled Electro-Thermal Model for Simulating the Lightning Strike Damage in Cfrps

open access: yes, 2018
Lightning strike can cause a considerable damage in aircraft parts made from semiconducting materials such as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRPs). Therefore, in recent years, the lightning strike phenomenon has attracted the interest of the academic community and the aircraft industry.

A study on temperature monitoring method for inverter IGBT based on memory recurrent neural network

open access: yesHigh-Speed Railway
The power module of the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) is the core component of the traction transmission system of high-speed trains. The module's junction temperature is a critical factor in determining device reliability.

Broken Symmetry and Coherence of Molecular Vibrations in Tunnel Transitions

open access: yes, 2004
We examine the Breit-Wigner resonances that ensue from field effects in molecular single electron transistors (SETs). The adiabatic dynamics of a quantum dot elastically attached to electrodes are treated in the Born-Oppenheimer approach.

Ground-state cooling the vibrations of suspended carbon-nanotubes with constant electron current [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the efficiency of cooling the vibrations of a nano-mechanical resonator, constituted by a partially suspended Carbon-nanotube and operating as double-quantum dot. The motion is brought to lower temperatures by tailoring the energy exchange

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Sensitivity Analysis of Battery Aging for Model-Based PHEV Use Scenarios

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Battery lifetime is an important parameter in the life cycle assessment (LCA) of a plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle (PHEV). This paper aims to study the impact of various parameters on the battery aging of a PHEV.

A Pyramid Scheme for Particle Physics

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce a new model, the Pyramid Scheme, of direct mediation of SUSY breaking, which is compatible with the idea of Cosmological SUSY Breaking (CSB).

High-sensitivity optical monitoring of a micro-mechanical resonator with a quantum-limited optomechanical sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We experimentally demonstrate the high-sensitivity optical monitoring of a micro-mechanical resonator and its cooling by active control. Coating a low-loss mirror upon the resonator, we have built an optomechanical sensor based on a very high-finesse ...
