All-organic dielectric-percolative three-component composite materials with high electromechanical response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
By combining the high-dielectric copper phthalocyanine oligomer (PolyCuPc) and conductive polyanline (PANI) within polyurethane (PU) matrix an all-organic three-component dielectric-percolative composite with high dielectric constant is demonstrated.

Tactile Sensors Based on Conductive Polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents results from a selection of tactile sensors that have been designed and fabricated. These sensors are based on a common approach that consists in placing a sheet of piezoresistive material on the top of a set of electrodes.

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Development of an amperometric biosensor for the detection of alcohol: a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters in Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The aim of the following work was to design a biosensor for the detection of ethanol. A biosensor is an analytical device in which a biological sensing element is connected to or integrated with a physical transducing element.

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

Electroactive influence of ferroelectric nanofillers on polyamide 11 matrix properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Barium titanate ceramic powders have been incorporated in polyamide 11 to form homogeneous dispersion of particles in the matrix. Barium titanate/polyamide 11 nanocomposites have been synthesized using a solvent casting method with ultrasonic stirring to

Electroactive microorganisms in bioelectrochemical systems [PDF]

open access: yesNature Reviews Microbiology, 2019
A vast array of microorganisms from all three domains of life can produce electrical current and transfer electrons to the anodes of different types of bioelectrochemical systems. These exoelectrogens are typically iron-reducing bacteria, such as Geobacter sulfurreducens, that produce high power densities at moderate temperatures.

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.
