Relationship between resting 12-lead electrocardiogram and all-cause death in patients without structural heart disease: Shinken Database analysis

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2021
Background Resting 12-lead electrocardiography is widely used for the detection of cardiac diseases. Electrocardiogram readings have been reported to be affected by aging and, therefore, can predict patient mortality.

A Touch Enabled Hemodynamic and Metabolic Monitor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a touch‐based hybrid platform for simultaneous monitoring of vital signs and sweat metabolites. With a simple tri‐finger touch of 4–6 min, users can concurrently get to know their glucose, uric acid, cortisol levels from fingertip sweat, along with blood pressure and heart rate.

Disruption of the blood–brain barrier contributes to neurobehavioral changes observed in rheumatic heart disease

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Sydenham's chorea (SC) is the neurological manifestation associated with acute rheumatic fever (ARF), triggered by a group A streptococcal (GAS) infection. Anti‐GAS antibodies cross‐reacting with tissue proteins are implicated in the development of neurological changes. In this study, using an animal model, we demonstrate that a compromised blood–brain

Space-time shape uncertainties in the forward and inverse problem of electrocardiography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In electrocardiography, the "classic" inverse problem is the reconstruction of electric potentials at a surface enclosing the heart from remote recordings at the body surface and an accurate description of the anatomy. The latter being affected by noise and obtained with limited resolution due to clinical constraints, a possibly large uncertainty may ...

Fluoxetine Treatment in Epilepsy of Infancy with Migrating Focal Seizures Due to KCNT1 Variants: An Open Label Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Gain‐of‐function (GoF) variants in KCNT1 encoding for potassium channels are associated with different epilepsy phenotypes, including epilepsy of infancy with migrating focal seizures (EIMFS), other early infantile developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, and focal epilepsy.

The Modeling and Quantification of Rhythmic to Non-rhythmic Phenomenon in Electrocardiography during Anesthesia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Variations of instantaneous heart rate appears regularly oscillatory in deeper levels of anesthesia and less regular in lighter levels of anesthesia. It is impossible to observe this "rhythmic-to-non-rhythmic" phenomenon from raw electrocardiography waveform in current standard anesthesia monitors. To explore the possible clinical value, I proposed the

Edge computing in 5G cellular networks for real-time analysis of electrocardiography recorded with wearable textile sensors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Fifth-generation (5G) cellular networks promise higher data rates, lower latency, and large numbers of interconnected devices. Thereby, 5G will provide important steps towards unlocking the full potential of the Internet of Things (IoT). In this work, we propose a lightweight IoT platform for continuous vital sign analysis. Electrocardiography (ECG) is

Efficacy and safety of dotinurad versus febuxostat for the treatment of gout: a randomised, multicentre, double‐blind, phase 3 trial in China

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objectives Dotinurad is a selective urate reabsorption inhibitor that reduces serum urate levels. We compared the efficacy and safety of dotinurad with febuxostat in Chinese patients with gout. Methods This phase 3, multicentre, randomised, double‐blind, parallel‐group study randomly allocated (1:1) eligible patients with gout to receive oral dotinurad

MINA: Multilevel Knowledge-Guided Attention for Modeling Electrocardiography Signals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Electrocardiography (ECG) signals are commonly used to diagnose various cardiac abnormalities. Recently, deep learning models showed initial success on modeling ECG data, however they are mostly black-box, thus lack interpretability needed for clinical usage.

Syncope Linked to QT‐Interval Prolongation and Global T‐Wave Inversion: A Clinical Case of Acute Pulmonary Embolism

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology
The incidence and mortality rates of acute pulmonary embolism (APE) are high in clinical emergencies, making early diagnosis and risk stratification crucial.
