Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Light-induced formation of partially reduced oxygen species limits the lifetime of photosystem 1-based biocathodes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Photobiodevices use photosynthetic proteins such as those of the photosystem 1 (PS1) to enable light-induced charge separation, but they suffer from limited long-term stability.

Quantitative estimation on delaying of onset of corrosion of rebar in surface treated concrete using sealers

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2013
Surface treatment on the concrete surface using sealers reduces the rate of permeability of chloride and moisture through the concrete. The delaying of onset of corrosion is evaluated for surface treated and untreated concrete using electrochemical ...

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Production of C-2/C-3 Oxygenates from Planar Copper Nitride-Derived Mesoporous Copper via Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Electrochemical reduction of CO2 provides an opportunity to produce fuels and chemicals in a carbon-neutral manner, assuming that CO2 can be captured from the atmosphere. To do so requires efficient, selective, and stable catalysts.

Novel Tailoring of Ternary ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 Nanocomposite Heterojunction and Its Tunable Electrochemical Properties With Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 nanocomposite heterojunction for photocatalytic decomposition of this methylene blue dye (MB) greatly improves light absorption, charge separation, and active site area. Two‐dimensional MXene forms nanocomposites by easily combining them with 0D (quantum dots), 1D (tube and wire), 2D (plane and sheet), and 3D (particle and lamellar ...

Microwave-assisted synthesis and electrochemical evaluation of VO2 (B) nanostructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Understanding how intercalation materials change during electrochemical operation is paramount to optimizing their behaviour and function and in situ characterization methods allow us to observe these changes without sample destruction.
