Electrochemical Behavior of Magnetron-Sputtered Al–Cu Alloy Films in Sulfate Solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Model alloys, generated by magnetron sputtering, have been employed to understand the role of copper on the corrosion behavior of aluminum alloys. Binary Al–Cu alloys, with copper contents between 0 and 100 atom %, were synthesized with well-controlled ...

Electrochemical Circuit Elements

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2016
The vast majority of electrochemical processes can be modelled by resistors and capacitors. These will then be, in addition to usual circuit elements, electrochemical and chemical resistors or chemical capacitors. The paper shows the significance of understanding these parameters and their connections in given systems for a variety of timely scientific

Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Analysis of Air Cathode Perfomance for Lithium-Air Batteries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Lithium-air (Li-air) batteries have a theoretical specific energy comparable to gasolines. The air cathode plays a critical role in battery operation, where oxygen reacts with Li ions and electrons; and discharge products are stored in the pore structure.

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Mass transfer enhancement produced by laser induced cavitation

open access: yes, 2006
A microelectrode is used to measure the mass transfer perturbation and characteristics during the growth and subsequent collapse of a single bubble (which, following its initial expansion, achieved a maximum radius, Rm, of not, vert, similar500–1000 ?m).

Electrochemical deprotonation of phosphate on stainless steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Voltammetric experiments performed in phosphate buffer at constant pH 8.0 on platinum and stainless steel revealed clear reduction currents, which were correlated to the concentrations of phosphate.

Toward Low‐Consumable Anodes: Process Simulation and Prospective Life Cycle Assessment of NiFe2O4‐NiO‐Ni‐Cu vs. Prebaked Anodes for Aluminum Production with use of Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐consumable nickel ferrite‐based anodes for the Hall–Héroult process are compared with conventional prebaked carbon anodes using thermodynamic simulation and prospective life cycle assessment under contrasting future electricity system pathways from 2025 to 2050.

Dissociate lattice oxygen redox reactions from capacity and voltage drops of battery electrodes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The oxygen redox (OR) activity is conventionally considered detrimental to the stability and kinetics of batteries. However, OR reactions are often confused by irreversible oxygen oxidation.

The micro-optical ring electrode Part 2 : theory for the transport limited, steady-state photocurrent. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The micro-optical ring electrode (MORE) is a photoelectrochemical device based on a ring microelectrode that uses the insulating material interior to the ring electrode as a light guide.
