Electrochemical etching of AlGaN for the realization of thin-film devices

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2019
Heterogeneously integrated AlGaN epitaxial layers will be essential for future optical and electrical devices like thin-film flip-chip ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting diodes, UV vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, and high-electron mobility ...

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...

Investigation of Phase Segregation in Highly Doped InP by Selective Electrochemical Etching

open access: yesTechnologies
We demonstrate that selective electrochemical etching is a reliable method for detecting and observing the uneven concentration distribution of impurities in indium phosphide crystals, which accompanies the growth of highly doped crystals using the ...

Single Solid‐State Ion Channels as Potentiometric Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single gold nanopores functionalized with mixed self‐assembled monolayers act as solid‐state ion channels for direct, selective potentiometric sensing of inorganic ions (Ag⁺). The design overcomes key miniaturization barriers of conventional ion‐selective electrodes by combining low resistivity with suppressed loss of active components, enabling robust

A Van der Waals Optoelectronic Synapse with Tunable Positive and Negative Post‐Synaptic Current for Highly Accurate Spiking Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A van der Waals optoelectronic synaptic device based on a ReS2/WSe2 heterostructure and oxygen‐treated h‐BN is presented, which enables both positive and negative PSCs through photocarrier polarity reversal. Bidirectional plasticity arises from gate‐tunable band bending and charge trapping‐induced quasi‐doping.

Electrodeless photo-assisted electrochemical etching of GaN using a H3PO4-based solution containing S2O82– ions

open access: yesApplied Physics Express, 2019
Electrodeless photo-assisted electrochemical etching was successfully demonstrated using a H3PO4-based solution containing S2O82– ions. The pH value of the solution changed under UVC illumination, clearly showing that SO4·– radicals were produced from ...

Spatiotemporal Plasma–Mediated Laser Fabrication of Ultrahigh‐Aspect‐Ratio Nanochannel Arrays for Vertical Perovskite Nanowire Semiconductor Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A spatiotemporal plasma–mediated laser processing approach is developed to fabricate ultrahigh–aspect ratio nanochannel arrays and corresponding perovskite nanowire arrays within transparent materials for optoelectronics devices. The laser‐fabricated nanochannels serve as templates for controlled perovskite infiltration and crystallization, enabling ...

Tailoring the photonic bandgap of porous silicon dielectric mirror

open access: yes, 2003
A systematic method to fabricate porous silicon one dimensional photonic crystals has been engineered to have a photonic bandwidth up to 2000nm. The observation of the tailorability of the photonic bandgap (PBG) underscores the requirement of the large ...
