Au-catalyzed electrochemical oxidation of alcohols using an electrochemical column flow cell

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2021
A novel green system for the electrochemical oxidation of alcohols is demonstrated using a column flow cell. Voltammetric analysis revealed that the oxidation of 1-phenylethanol and benzaldehyde are promoted by using both an Au-electrode and an alkaline ...

A new insight into the oxidative mechanism of caffeine and related methylxanthines in aprotic medium: May caffeine be really considered as an antioxidant? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Antioxidant properties have been recently suggested for caffeine that seems showing protective effects against damages caused by oxidative stress. In particular, a HO% scavenging activity has been ascribed to caffeine. Even if the oxidation

Electrochemical Treatment of Arsenic in Drinking Water: Effect of Initial As3+ Concentration, pH, and Conductivity on the Kinetics of Oxidation

open access: yesClean Technologies, 2023
Many technologies for the treatment of arsenic-containing drinking water are available, but most of them are more effective on arsenic oxidized forms. Therefore, the pre-oxidation of As3+ is necessary.

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...

Electrochemical study of the Eu(III)/Eu(II) system in molten fluoride media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The electrochemical behaviour of the Eu(III)/Eu(II) system was examined in the molten eutectic LiF-CaF2 on a molybdenum electrode, using cyclic voltammetry, square-wave voltammetry and chronopotentiometry. It was observed that EuF3 is partly reduced into
