Electrochemical polymerization of aromatic amines

Films resulting from the anodic oxidation of various monosubstituted aromatic amines have been grafted on Pt electrodes in a CH3CN−NaClO4-pyridine medium. An in situ polaromicrotribometric study of changes occurring on the electrode surface during polarization indicates that these deposits have a stable friction coefficient of 1.3fo.

Electrochemical polymerization of 2-vinylpyrrole

FTIR and electrical conductivity data of polymers obtained by electrochemical polymerization of 2-vinylpyrrole suggest aromatic coupling of the pyrrole rings of adjacent poly(2-vinylpyrrole) chains to form crosslinks. This polymer exhibits a electrical conductivity of ∼10 -5 S/cm.

Abstract 1,4-Bis(2-thienyl)benzene (T14B), 2,5-bis(2-thienyl)pyridine (T25P), and 2,6-bis(2-thienyl)pyridine (T26P) were electrochemically polymerized. The conductivity of poly-T14B, poly-T25P, and poly-T26P was 1.7 × 10−1, 2.6 × 10−8, and 1.2 × 10−7 S/cm, respectively.
