Photo‐Assisted Zn‐Iodine Battery via Bifunctional Cathode with Iodine Host and Solar Response Boost

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bifunctional cathode based on BiOI materials is developed for photo‐assisted Zn‐iodine batteries, serving as both an iodine host and a solar‐responsive material. This design enables dual reaction routes involving vacancy‐based iodine storage and reversible two steps iodine redox.

Model of Electrochemical "Double Layer" Using the Phase Field Method [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2002
We present the first application of phase field modeling to electrochemistry. A free energy functional that includes the electrostatic effect of charged particles leads to rich interactions between concentration, electrostatic potential, and phase stability.

Facile Synthesis of CuxS Electrocatalysts for CO2 Conversion into Formate and Study of Relations Between Cu and S with the Selectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Copper sulfide based electrocatalysts for CO2 conversion are selective for production of formate as major product. Transformations under electrochemical conditions result in significant sulfur loss, and this study examines the nature of how persistent, residual sulfur (observed as surface SO42– species and S dissolved in the electrolyte) can sustain ...

Development of a two‐dimensional bipolar electrochemistry technique for high throughput corrosion screening

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances
Bipolar electrochemistry allows testing and analysing the crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion, passivation, general corrosion, and cathodic deposition reactions on one sample after a single experiment.

Role of coupled electrochemistry and stress on the Li-anode instability: A continuum approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We present a coupled mechanistic approach that elucidates the intricate interplay between stress and electrochemistry, enabling the prediction of the onset of instabilities in Li-metal anodes and the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) in liquid-electrolyte Li-metal batteries.

Direct Ink Writing of Conductive Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the use of direct ink writing (DIW) for fabricating conductive hydrogels with customizable 3D structures. It outlines the rheological requirements for successful DIW, followed by an exploration of the materials and ink formulations used to impart electronic and/or ionic conductivity to hydrogels while maintaining printability ...

Recent Advances in Enzyme‐based Biofuel Cells Using Glucose Fuel: Achieving High Power Output and Enhanced Operational Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Effective electron transfer and stable enzyme immobilization, both between enzymes and host electrodes as well as between adjacent enzymes, are crucial for optimizing the biofuel cell (BFC) performance. Recently, efforts have focused on integrating these strategies with porous host electrodes.
