K+‐Triggered Defect Engineering and Proton‐Coupled Storage in V2O5·nH2O for Advanced Zn‐Ion Thin‐Film and Microbatteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
K+ pre‐intercalation in V2O5·nH2O induces interlayer contraction, oxygen‐vacancy formation, and mixed‐valence states, activating defect‐mediated proton‐dominated transport. This enables cooperative H+/Zn2+ storage with enhanced kinetics and stability. The resulting Zn‐based thin‐film and microbatteries deliver high areal energy and capacity, offering a

Beyond d‐Band Catalysis: A Critical Review and Descriptor Framework for Rare‐Earth Engineering in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rare‐earth catalysts regulate lithium–sulfur battery chemistry through f‐orbital–mediated interactions, enabling simultaneous polysulfide adsorption and catalytic conversion on conductive carbon hosts. This synergistic control suppresses the shuttle effect, accelerates redox kinetics, and guides stable Li2S nucleation, providing a mechanistic framework

Highly Reversible Zinc Anode Enabled by a Thiourea‐Derived Protective Layer for Alkaline Zinc Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A ZnS/carbon nitride (ZnS/CN) protective coating is constructed on Zn anodes via ultrasonic spray coating, enabling uniform and stable Zn stripping/plating, suppressing dendrite formation, and mitigating parasitic side reactions, resulting in a prolonged cycling lifespan and high reversibility of the Zn anode in alkaline Zn–air batteries. ABSTRACT Zinc‐
