A new type of membrane, the bipolar membrane, allows the electro-dissociation of water. An apparatus for micro electrodialysis
Analytical Biochemistry, 1972Abstract An apparatus for the electrodialysis of small volumes down to 10 μl is described. The V-shaped dialysis chamber is open and easily accessible. The samples are cooled by continuous pumping of buffer solution against the outer walls of the dialysis membranes.

Polarization measurement and an accelerated life test of the ruthenium-coated titanium electrode and stainless steel electrode were conducted respectively. The ruthenium-coated titanium electrode on which coating contains iridium and more titanium has a better electrochemical characteristics and longer service life for electrodialysis reversal process.
