Multiphase Actuation of AC Electrothermal Micropump

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
Electrothermal micropumps apply an AC electric field to a conductive fluid within the range of 10 kHz–1 MHz to generate fluid flow. In this frequency range, coulombic forces dominate fluid interactions over opposing dielectric forces, resulting in high ...

Comment on “Can Charge Transfer Across C─H···O Hydrogen Bonds Stabilize Oil Droplets in Water?”

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Nanoscale oil droplets in water are kinetically stable and charged, with a pH dependent electrophoretic mobility. Although the source of this charge is agreed to arise from water, 2 main hypotheses remain: OH− adsorption or electronic charge density displaced via hydrogen bonds. Molecular surface specific experiments are reviewed, that all point to the

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Coupling Anodic Activity and Stability at Ni‐Based Non‐Oxide Catalysts via Coordinating Alcohol Oxidation and Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A cooperative and competitive interrelationship between alcohol oxidation (AOR) and water oxidation (OER) was observed on a typical anode catalyst of Ni2P. In situ Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical analyses revealed a specific complementary mechanism between them, in which OER and AOR critically contribute to the activity and stability of anodic ...

Start-off MHD electrokinetic Couette flow in an annulus: A Riemann-sum approximation approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering
The time dependent Couette flow of an electrically conducting fluid in a horizontal annulus in the presence of electric potential and accelerated motion of the outer cylinder is investigated. The governing electric field potential as well as the momentum
