Study of Alkaline Water Electrolysis (II)

ECS Transactions, 2013
There are four main factors in the Alkaline Water Electrolysis (AWE) for contributing to the cell performance. One is cell structure which is related to the uniform electrolyte concentration with proper internal circulation of electrolyte in the cell room or the out gassing from electrode, separator and cell chamber.

Electrolysis of Sea Water

1975
In implementation of the hydrogen economy, the electrolysis of sea water as the source of hydrogen has been discussed. Two options exist for performance of this electrolysis. The first option is to subject the water to total desalinization to remove all impurities and produce essentially distilled water.

Theory of the electrolysis of water

Protection of Metals, 2008
Based only on simple electrodynamics relations with no use of Arrhenius’ ionic hypothesis, an equation relating the polarization current density to the potential is derived and used in describing the kinetics of electrolysis by an example of water decomposition in a wide range of potentials.

Engineering Modeling of PEM Water Electrolysis

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2015
The conversion of electric energy into pressurized hydrogen by means of water electrolysis is currently discussed as promising option to handle intermittent electricity supply that occurs with the increasing use of renewable energy sources. Subsequently, this hydrogen could be (1) either reconverted into electricity, or (2) converted into other ...

The Thermodynamics of Aqueous Water Electrolysis

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1980
Precise definitions are given of three thermodynamic parameters which characterize the water‐electrolysis reaction: the enthalpic voltage, the higher‐heating‐value voltage, and the thermoneutral voltage. Expressions are derived for these parameters and for the reversible potential, as functions of temperature between 25° and 250°C, and of pressure ...

Electrolysis of glycerol in subcritical water

Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, 2009
Recently, there has been a rising interest for the disposal of biorelated components that cannot be treated easily by biological processes. Because of the development of biodiesel production, the production of by-products such as crude glycerol has increased dramatically.

THE ALTERNATING CURRENT ELECTROLYSIS OF WATER

Canadian Journal of Research, 1929
An examination of commercial hot water heaters and steam generators of the electric water resistor type operating on alternating current shows that hydrogen and oxygen are generated within the electrode chamber. Current density is found to be the primary factor in the A.C. electrolysis of water at low voltages.
