Electric field modulation in tissue electroporation with electrolytic and non-electrolytic additives
Bioelectrochemistry, 2007Electroporation, cell membrane permeabilization with short electrical field pulses, is used in tissue for in vivo gene therapy, drug therapy and minimally invasive tissue ablation. For the electroporation to be successful, the electrical field that develops during the application of the pulses needs to be precisely controlled.

Bis-(3-sulfopropyl)-disulfide disodium salt (SPS), animal protein of low molecular (PBF) and hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) were added in electrolyte as additives. The additive amount of SPS was changed in this study.

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2014Perfluorocarbons, the main component of artificial blood, have been investigated as additives for lithium oxygen battery due to their ability to absorb significant volume of oxygen. They are expected to increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in the electrolyte and therefore decrease the polarization during discharge.

Sodium (Na) is of growing interest due to its high natural abundance, but the carbonate electrolytes that are popular in lithium systems are unable to form a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with a sodium metal electrode.

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2018New all vanadium with bi-additive electrolyte has 30% higher energy density and 80% wider temperature window which will be a promising energy storage option for the future grid.
